Meet The Team

We are a dedicated team which strives to provide success to our clients in regards to all their accountancy needs. Our team is very close-knit and ensures that a unified support is provided to you whenever you need it. With expertise covering all aspects of accountancy, taxation and business advisory services, we are well placed to take a holistic view to planning for the future as well dealing with specific matters.

Roy Adams FCA – Partner

Roy joined Beresfords in 1972. During his time at the practice, Roy has worked across a range of business sectors, helping companies with their accounting, auditing and compliance requirements.

Key Sectors

Motor dealers, Care Homes and Flat Management companies.

Primary Business Skills

Patience, good verbal communication and astute commercial awareness.

Outside of work

Roy is a keen Badminton player (and treasurer of his club) and also enjoys time on his allotment.

Phillip Hindle FCCA MAAT – Partner

Philip has been at Beresfords since 1984. As well as managing business development and the expanding portfolio of services for Beresfords, Phillip works closely with clients on their audits, advising on their corporate and personal tax planning, as well as business sales and acquisition.

Key Sectors

Phillip is an affiliate member of the British Franchise Association (one of only 10 accountants in the UK) and has specialist experience and knowledge of working with franchises

Communication, management and commercial awareness.

Outside of work

Phillip enjoys cycling, rugby and travel. He is also an award winning fundraiser for Pilgrims Hospice.

Dan Payne FCCA MAAT – Client Manager

Dan joined Beresfords in 2005. On a day to day basis Dan manages a portfolio of clients, oversees trainees and, as a certified Xero partner, advises on the power of cloud accounting.

Analysing and investigating, initiative and flexibility.

Outside of work

Dan enjoys playing hockey (he is also Treasurer at the Folkestone Optimist Hockey Club), golf, eating out and socialising.

Vicky Payne FCA BSc (Hons) – Client Manager

Vicky has been with Beresfords since 1998. Vicky gets involved in a number of different areas at the practice including helping clients with management accounts, year-end accounts, bookkeeping software support, company/personal tax returns, VAT returns and bookkeeping.

Outside of work

Vicky collects elephants, baking cakes as well as Latin and Ballroom dancing. She is also a volunteer at Broadstairs Sailing Club.

Chris Dodd FCCA – Client Manager and Marketing

Chris joins Beresfords as a Client Manager and Marketing lead for the practice.  Chris has over 20 years’ experience of working with Owner Managed businesses and has developed a passion for helping them achieve and surpass their business goals.

Outside of work

Chris is a keen single figure (at the time of writing) handicap golfer.  An Everton fan, but don’t hold that against him, and enjoys watching most sports.  Chris also enjoys going to the Gym.

Peter Allen FCA – Ashford Office Manager

Peter has been working within the accountancy sector since 1990. During that time, he has amassed a wealth of experience, working across a range of sectors helping business owners prepare their accounts.

Peter enjoys the cinema, going to concerts and has a keen appreciation of wine

Simon Osbourne MAAT – Office Manager

Simon is able to distil 30 years’ experience in the financial sector (as well having first-hand experience of running a business) into his role as Office Manager.

Outside of work

Simon enjoys going to the gym, travelling and watching movies.

Stefan Burgess ATT – Personal Tax Manager

Stefan joined Beresfords in the summer. Stefan has extensive knowledge of personal, income, capital gains and foreign taxation.

Outside of work

Stefan enjoys sports, movies…and chocolate.

Bryan Pearce – Accounts Assistant

Bryan has been at Beresfords for 37 years. During that time, he has been responsible for accounts production, management accounts and personal tax.

Outside of work

Bryan enjoys reading, badminton and golf. He also has two unpaid treasurer positions.

Lisa Smith – Administration Assistant

Lisa came on board in January 2017 to help the administration team with daily tasks.

Self-motivation, written communication and time management

Outside of Work

Lisa enjoys walking her 2 dogs and having fun with her 3 children. Lisa also gets fully involved with volunteer work for a religious charity.

Mary Hollett MAAT – Accounts Assistant

Mary has 20 years’ experience working in practice. She has experience in preparing accounts for corporate and unincorporated businesses, and the preparation of charity accounts. Mary also gets involved in preparing VAT returns, preparing wages, and bookkeeping for clients using Sage line 50 and Xero online accounting software.

Outside of work

Mary enjoys spending time with her two young daughters (especially on camping and caravanning holidays) as well as going to the gym and cycling.

Tania Leighton FMAAT – Accounts Assistant

Tania brings nearly 20 years of experience in the accounting sector to her role. Her working day consists of analysing paperwork, Bookkeeping, producing draft accounts and quarterly VAT Returns.

Analysing and investigating, written communication, planning and organisation.

Outside of work

Tania enjoys singing, socialising and reading.

Since 1995 Tania has been a search and Rescue Officer for H M Coastguard. She was awarded the Chief Coastguard’s Commendation Medal for Bravery in 2002 when she saved the life of a 10-year-old boy from the sea in gale force conditions.

Vanessa Packman – Accounts Assistant

Vanessa has been with Beresfords for 8 years. During that time, her main areas of work have included preparing accounts to draft, creating management accounts, bookkeeping and VAT returns.

Outside of work

Vanessa enjoys dancing, yoga and spending time with family/friends

Jessica Abrahams MAAT – Accounts Assistant

Jessica has recently joined the Beresford’s team. Jessica is an all-rounder who primarily is responsible for preparing accounts.

Outside of work

Jessica is kept too busy by her children to have any hobbies

Kirsty Catt – Bookkeeping & Accounts Assistant

Kirsty is training to become a qualified accountant. She has experience in bookkeeping and organising and inputting data into Xero (she is a Certified Xero advisor) as well as preparing VAT returns.

Outside of work

Kirsty likes to bake, sing and walk.

Kirsty is a volunteer with the Ronald McDonald House Charity, an organisation that aims to raise money to house families with very sick children.

Michaela Greeley – Accounts Assistant

Michaela has just joined the team offering over 14 years of accounts experience; many of those years spent helping individuals and businesses in the Folkestone area.

Her specialist areas are working with CIS and sole traders to complete bookkeeping, VAT returns and accounts. She has completed her level 3 AAT using her business skills of initiation, analysing and investigating figures and planning.

Outside of work

During her spare time, she is a busy Mum to her three boys. She enjoys socialising with friends and family, watching her son play football and loves a good book.

Kath Webster – Accounts Assistant

After spending most of her career as a Company Secretary for a high-end tailoring and valeting company (clients included many household names), Kath joined Beresfords 2 years ago.

Her primary responsibilities include analysing, preparing and auditing accounts as well as completing VAT and CIS returns.

Nicola Griggs – Payroll Manager

Nicola processes and manages monthly and weekly Payrolls. She also answers payroll queries and sets up pension schemes for auto enrolment.

Nicola enjoys fine art, horticulture and Scrabble

Rachel Davies – Accounts Assistant

Originally the owner of a small accountancy practice, Rachel has 30 years’ experience with Beresfords, helping owner managed businesses with their accounts requirements; primarily Accounts preparation, VAT returns and bookkeeping

Josh Hindle – Trainee Accountant

Josh was a summer signing for Beresfords. Josh is part way through his AAT qualifications and is looking to utilise his IT skills within the business as well as assist with Book keeping and accounts preparation.

Outside of Work

Josh enjoys playing and watching rugby, going to the gym and listening to music.

Annabelle Waghorn – Trainee Accountant

Annabelle has recently joined us from school and she currently studying for her Level 2 AAT.

Outside of work

I enjoy musicals and playing the violin. I also love travelling around Europe.

Sue Robinson – Administrator

Sue works closely with Glynis and Pat offering office support

Glynis Saunders – Administrator

Glynis has been with Beresfords for the last 17 years. Along with Sue and Pat, Glynis helps keep the Beresford office running smoothly

Catherine Nicholls – Administrator

Catherine has worked in admin for about 15 years.  As a trained bookkeeper, she has had extensive experience in working within an accountancy including bookkeeping, VAT returns and as a payroll manager.

Outside of work

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going to concerts and travelling.

Lucy-Jane O’Malley-Brown – Administrator

An experienced administrator, Lucy-Jane recently joined after completing her AAT qualifications. Lucy-Jane has primarily been brought on board to work on Book keeping, preparing accounts to draft as well ascompleting and filing VAT returns.

Analysing and investigating figures, demonstrating initiative, drive and enthusiasm for her subject.

Outside of work

Lucy-Jane enjoys keeping fit and spending time with her friends and family (and spending money boosting the UK retail sector). Using her commercial acumen, Lucy-Jane raises money for ABC; a Charity funding pioneering research to improving detection and treatment of cancer.

Melissa – Administrator

Melissa has been with us for 2 years.  During her career, she has garnered over 10 years’ experience of administration and bookkeeping as well as completing a Diploma in Welfare and a Women into Management course.

Melissa is the first face you see at the Church Road office.  As well as keeping the front office running smoothly and giving visitors and warm welcome, Melissa also looks after bookkeeping and administration work.

Lesley Parker – Xero Trainer

With a wealth of experience in bookkeeping, Lesley is the Xero Accounting Trainer. She works with clients to ensure their Xero queries are answered and they get the most from the Xero programme.

Outside of work

Lesley enjoys photography, golf and cooking
